| Plymouth based company Driftwood Seas create beautiful
driftwood mirrors, clocks and table lamps from Driftwood and other
reclaimed items picked up on beaches in Devon and Cornwall.
Each piece of Driftwood once selected for use is cleaned, lightly sanded, polished with a beeswax paste and glued and nailed into position. Mike Holman is a self-taught artist who after a 30 year career in the computer software industry is now dedicating his time to creating the Driftwood Seas range of mirrors, table lamps, clocks and driftwood sculpture pieces. Artist Statement: “I take great satisfaction is being able to pick up a piece of driftwood, cleaning it, sanding and shaping it, adding to other pieces to create a finished mirror or lamp, and to give the wood a new lease of life. In some ways it mirrors my life in that after 30 years of sitting behind a computer I can now walk beautiful beaches in the fresh air to pick up the Driftwood and then create new pieces.”
